AUDITION INFORMATION

AUDITION DATE: Monday, July 6

AUDITION TIME: 4-8 PM, first come, first serve basis

AUDITION LOCATION: Fohs Hall, Marion, KY

REHEARSAL INFORMATION

REHEARSAL DATES: Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Aug. 3

REHEARSAL TIME: 3:45 - 5:45 PM

REHEARSAL LOCATION: CAF Studio (former art gallery)

DRESS REHEARSAL: Sept. 17 & 18, 3:45-7 PM

PERFORMANCE INFORMATION

PERFORMANCE DATE: Saturday, Sept. 19

PERFORMANCE TIME: 5 PM

PERFORMANCE LOCATION: Hayward Lawn (across the street from Fohs Hall)

SHOW THEMES

Macbeth is a classic Shakespearean tragedy that includes stage combat, references to warfare, themes of murder, political conflict, and supernatural elements. All violence will be presented in an age-appropriate theatrical manner. This is an abridged version of Macbeth.

TO PREPARE FOR AUDITION

1. Access the sides on the website to prepare. The more prepared you are, the more impressive your audition will be. Focus on clear diction, expression, and storytelling rather than simply reciting lines.

2. Work on Vocal ExpressionShakespeare's language can be challenging. Practice speaking clearly, projecting your voice, and varying your tone to communicate emotion and meaning.

3. Be Ready to MoveMacbeth includes scenes of battle, court life, and dramatic action. Wear comfortable clothing and be prepared for movement exercises.

4. Give it Your Best - The director is looking for enthusiasm, creativity, and willingness to learn. Don't be reserved. 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CAST MEMBER:

1. Show up on time and be present at rehearsal.

2. Memorize the script and be off book by Aug. 3 - that's the first day of rehearsal

3. Costumes will be simple, but some accessories may need to be purchased.

4. Participate in our team. Be supportive and be responsible.

Auditioning for the show does not guarantee a role. 


Meet the Director

Katie Keene

Katie takes the director's chair after serving as Assistant Director for Disney's Frozen Jr. and appearing as Clairee Belcher in CAF's production of Steel Magnolias. A Marion native with experience in both stage and film, Katie is excited to help young performers bring Shakespeare’s timeless characters and stories to life.
